Skier Bode Miller caught in child custody and support dispute

Regardless of one's social and celebrity status, family law issues such as child custody and support issues can affect parents in all walks of life. Winter Olympics fans in Florida familiar with skier and Bronze medal winner Bode Miller may find it interesting to learn that he is entangled in a child custody and support dispute with his 13-month-old son's mother.

The parents were recently in court fighting over child custody of their toddler. However, the judge presiding over their case asked that the two come up with an interim custody arrangement or schedule. Furthermore, according to the lawyer representing the mother of his son, Miller apparently has not paid any child support. However, attorney's representing Miller disputed these allegations noting only that the child support decision is pending in the Miller's home state. According to reports, following their most recent court appearance, the mother of Miller's son talked in a published essay about their child custody battle, and noted how difficult it is for her when their son is with Miller.

Clearly, when children are in the picture, in any relationship, emotions can run high. Both parents -- who want to play an integral part in the life of their child -- may do anything to get child custody. During such emotionally charged times, it is essential for parents to think rationally and not make irrational decisions in a fit of anger.

Regardless of the disputes and disagreements between the parents, it is very important to keep the best interest of the child in mind, and come up with a workable solution for all involved.
