Teen Mom 2's Jenelle Evans child custody and support drama

MTV's show Teen Mom gives most viewers an inside look into the lives of teen mothers and the issues they encounter with the father of their child, child custody and support. One name that is frequently brought up is that of Jenelle Evans, a teen mom with a 3-year-old son.

Our Florida residents may have heard that Evans was recently served with a warrant for failing to pay child support. In addition, she was recently arrested for heroin possession and charged with simple assault on her husband. Currently, Evan's mother has full custody of her 3-year-old son and as such she is required to pay her mother child support.

In general, a non-custodial parent is required to pay the custodial parent child support to help with childcare related expenses. In the case of Evans, since her son is with his grandmother, Evans is mandated to pay her mother child support. It is unclear what if any child visitation rights the teen mom has but reportedly her mother recently allowed her to see the child.

Anyone who has been involved in a child custody and parenting time dispute know that during such dispute emotions run high on both side. It is important for the child to spend time with both parents where possible. It is also judicious for parents and those who may have custody, such as grandparents, to work together in the best interest of the child. Depending on the circumstances, association with both parents, grandparents and extended family members is important for the growth and development of the child.
