Child-custody issues surround actor Charlie Sheen

Famous Hollywood actors and actresses are frequently in the news regarding marriage, divorce and child-custody and support issues. Florida resident familiar actor Charlie Sheen may be aware of the child-custody issues surrounding his twin boys. Recently, the actor was reportedly seen with his ex-wife Denise Richards outside an L.A. courthouse where apparently they met to discuss the temporary custody of his twin boys. However, Richards is not the mother of the boys.

According to reports, the mother of the boys, Brooke Mueller, is presently undergoing treatment for addiction to prescription drugs. As a result of her drug abuse, the boys were taken away from her care by the Department of Child and Family services. Charlie Sheen's ex-wife Richards, was granted temporary custody of the twin boys. Richards also has custody of the two daughters she had with Sheen.

Mueller apparently received $55,000 every month in child support payments from Sheen to take care of the twins. Sheen indicated that Mueller is trying to get her brother temporary custody of the twins so that she can still receive the child support. However, he claimed he would much rather have his ex-wife have temporary custody of his sons. Richards has not asked for any child support from Sheen to take care of the twin boys.

When considering child custody and support issues, children's best interests should remain the foremost consideration. These issues are emotional issues for everyone involved, whether the parents are actors or not. Any parent undergoing a divorce or separation with questions regarding child custody and support should contact an experienced family law attorney.
