Actor Dennis Quaid's wife seeking sole physical custody of twins

When married people can no longer live harmoniously, the only option for their emotional and psychological well-being, as well as that of any children in the marriage, may be divorce. It is a hard decision for most people that only gets harder when children are involved, especially when it comes to details such as custody and visitation matters. Florida residents who follow celebrity divorces may find it interesting to know that Hollywood stars encounter similar issues that divorcing or divorced parents with children in Florida do.

According to reports, after nearly eight years of marriage, actor Dennis Quaid's wife has filed legal separation papers. However, this is only a formality, and she is contemplating filing divorce papers as soon as their 6-month residency requirement is met. Apparently, Dennis Quaid's wife is fed up with the actor's infidelity and wants out of the marriage. The couple has 4-year old twins, and she is planning on seeking joint legal and sole physical custody of the twins. However, she is open to the actor having visitation rights.

The harsh reality of divorce is that children who once enjoyed spending equal amounts of time with each parent during the marriage can no longer do so. For parents, nothing is more important than having the opportunity to spend time with their children, watching them grow and being part of their lives. Despite their differences, parents should try to work together to draft a workable visitation plan for that is in the best interest of the child.

In some situations, given the acrimony of the divorce, the parents may not be able to work together and may want to get back at each other by limiting the other parent's access to the children. It is thus essential for anyone in a bitter custody battle to try to set their emotions aside. When it is impossible to do so, they should seek the advice of an expert in the area who can work in the best interest of the child and be an aggressive advocate for one's visitation rights.
